Children will be provided with a passport they can decorate and they will bring them around to three stations. At each station students will learn a few words from the country, receive a stamp saying the visited, and an activity related to the local culture. There will be another mini passport day in May. We will list the three countries soon…
Fiske will be closed for the April vacation. There is a camp at Bowman for all the Lextended Day sites.
Our second annual World’s fair will feature 4 to 5 countries picked by student volunteers. There will be poster boards with facts on each country. Each country will also have a traditional game, dance, craft, or snack represented. The countries represented this year will be Italy, Wales/England, Spain, South Africa, and Mexico.
As the year begins to wind down, Lextended Day would like to take the opportunity to celebrate with our fifth grade students! As they get closer and closer to graduating from elementary school, we'd like to start off the celebration by showing our support and sponsoring a 5th grade field trip. This year, we will head to Roller Kingdom in Tyngsboro, on Thursday, March 7th from 1:00 to 4:30.
All fifth grade students that are enrolled in Lextended Day are invited to join us for the trip, and there will be no additional cost for extra blocks. While at Roller Kingdom all students will get the chance to skate, play laser tag, and socialize with other fifth graders who will be heading off to middle school next year too! If you would like your fifth grade students to attend this field trip please complete the permission slip.
This year is our second annual winter carnival. This year we will have a bouncy obstacle course, a snack craft, games, and a photo booth. At 4:30 we will be playing The Grinch (2018) in the cafeteria while free bounce is happening in the gym. At 5:00 pm the gym will be closed as the bouncy houses are being deflated. During this time, the movie will continue to play, gaga ball be offered in the music room, and weather permitting outside free play.
The spaghetti supper requires the gym and cafeteria for set up and serving. Lextended will move all its students, crafts, and games into the first grade classrooms from 4- 6 pm. For pick up and sign out you will meet Katie in the hallway outside of the cafeteria. We suggest one enters through the colony road doors since we will not be able to see the door that connects to the cafeteria.
Discovery Museum will have a visiting scientist come and teach the children all about simple machines. There will even be a segment where the children will lift a teacher with no strenuous work.
