Director of Human Resources

Lextended Day supports Lexington families and community by giving school-age children the opportunity to play, explore, create, and make friends in a healthy and stimulating environment.

Lextended Day is a non-profit, tuition-supported after-school program serving children at all six elementary schools in Lexington.

Position Overview:

The Director of Human Resources contributes to the development of and has oversight of the implementation of effective human resources programs and services to support Lextended Day’s ability to attract, retain, develop and manage a highly engaged and committed staff. 

Responsibilities:

●     Ensure that all HR systems function effectively to support all staff.

●     Ensure organization remains in compliance with applicable employment laws.

●     Lead all recruitment efforts for permanent and school year staff.

●     Coordinate orientation and on-boarding process for new employees.

●     Facilitate and track the periodic completion of the staff performance management process.

●     Responsible for the communication of organization news to staff (staff changes, policies, deadlines, and key announcements).

●     Update and maintain personnel policies and the employee handbook.

●     Address employee relations issues.

●     Design and implement programs designed to support staff experience.

●     Manage the employment termination process, ensure documentation is in order and conduct exit interviews.

●     Manage workers’ compensation claims and disability claims. Manage benefit enrollment for eligible employees.

●     Coordinate employee surveys and summarize results.

●     Manage benefit enrollment for eligible employees.

●     Knowledge of principles and practices of human resources administration.

Education and Work Experience:

●     Bachelors or Masters Degree in relevant discipline

●     Minimum 5 years progressive human resources management experience

Work Hours and benefits.

30 hours a week

At Lextended you will be able to share your skills and interests with children.  We shape our programming off of the skills of teachers.  Love Spanish?  Host a Spanish club.

Art, robotics, music, sports, games, chess, cartooning, dance, drama, robotics, science experiments, yoga, karate, Pokemon, nature, cooking, and the outdoors are all activities our teachers offer

Hours:

  •        2:45 pm – 6:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday
  •        11:45 am – 6:00 pm on Thursday
  •        Start times may vary by 15 minutes depending on the site. 3 to 5-day commitments are preferred. Commitment to the care of children includes the understanding that both the weekly schedule and the yearly commitment matter.

  •      Course work in Education and/or experience with groups of elementary aged children.

Subject Matter Experts

Lextended Day is an after school program looking for people to nurture playfulness children.  We believe understand play is the work of childhood and children grow from play in unique and exciting ways.

At Lextended you will be able to share your skills and interests with children.  We shape our programming off of the skills of teachers.

We are looking for people who would rotate through our six sites in residencies to share their interests with children.  Teachers will also participate in other aspects of the day at the sites.

Lextended Day is an after school program looking for people to nurture playfulness in children.  We believe play is the work of childhood and children grow from play in unique and exciting ways.

At Lextended you will be able to share your skills and interests with children.  We shape our programming off of the skills of teachers. 

We are looking for people who can assist in the administration of our sites due to tremendous growth over the past few years.  A variety of positions are open in the Kindergarten, First Grade and Grades 2 to 5 age groups.
